Ok, I did not give an update on my weight loss last week due to mother nature. I didn't think it would be fair to my scales so I chose not to weigh in. So today's weigh in will be for week's 6 & 7 of my weight loss journey.
Beginning weight: 204.6
Previous week's weight: 190.6
New weight: 188.2
I lost 2.4 lbs. the last 2 weeks.
A total weigh loss of 16.4 lbs.
I had wanted to reach 185 lbs. by my anniversary, 3.2 lbs. to go, and only 4 days to do it. I need a miracle.
Gonna have to put in some extra miles with Leslie to burn some extra calories to reach my goal, LOL.

My Opinion of Leslie Sansone Videos
Just sitting here enjoying an ice coffee with this good old south Alabama weather. I am thankful that we have been having more rain than usual so it has kept it a little cooler than normal.
I did not get to make church this morning because my little man was sick. I think it is just a stomach bug. He has been sick since last night, but is beginning to feel better so it probably is a bug.
I posted yesterday about my weight update. In that post I mentioned about walking with Leslie, that is Leslie Sansone. I am greatly enjoying her aerobic walking video that I have. My husband has also come on board with me and has been walking. My son has walked more than my daughter. When we begin our new school year in August they will not have a choice. I plan to use Leslie videos for the exercise part of our P.E.
If any of you homeschool Moms are looking for an easy way to get in some exercise for you or your children, these videos are great. She basically uses the same aerobic moves in each video, just switches them up. The moves are not hard. Even smaller children could use them. She has some videos with Christian music in the background. I don't have any of those yet, plan to get some, but the music in the other videos isn't bad. Just a beat to get you moving. Check some of them out online. You may want to purchase some of them. Right now I only have the 5 day walk plan where you are walking a different amount of miles per day. I plan to get about 3 more of them so I can rotate them.
There are some great reviews where different people have lost a lot of weight by just using her videos. Some reviews give negative reviews because they think she talks too much during the workout. Personally, that's what makes the videos so good to me because I get so involved listening to her that I don't even realize I have already walked a mile. Before I know it one mile is gone and we are beginning another one. I have timed her aerobic miles and they all tend to last for 13 minutes per mile. Arms, legs, all body parts are moving, a great over all work out. I have added some weights to mine for some toning. Right now I use the weights separate from the video work out. In the future I hope to be able to use the weights during the work out.
We are moving slow through our books, but we are moving. Summer just seems to have so many events that it makes it hard to get in a good week of school. My motivation, "Some is better than none."
This about sums up our life right now. Hope all is well with you all.

Week 5 Weight Loss
Wow! A great week walking with Leslie! I tipped those scales this week after a slow go last week. I am so excited! I praise God for the weight I lost this week because I thought my body was about to hit a weight plateau, as it usually does.
So here is the weekly report:
Beginning Weight: 204.6
Last week's weight: 194.8
New weight: 190.6
Lost 4.2 lbs. this week
Total weight loss: 14 lbs. (in 5 weeks)
I had set a goal to be 185 lbs. by my anniversary on July 24th, only 5.6 lbs. to go. I only have a little over 2 weeks to do that. Not sure if I will make it, but at least I should be very close.

Week 4 Weight Loss
Well, a little late this week on getting my weight logged in. I've been extremely busy. So busy that I would have thought I would have lost more weight than what I did, but oh well.
I started a new work out this week and I am assuming my body was building up my muscles this week because I did not have a big weight loss. I began using a walking video this week that has aerobic walking on it by Leslie Sansone. I like it really good. The aerobic miles really get muscles that you don't normally get to while just walking. Leslie has many videos so I plan to use the one I have for about three weeks and then purchase another one. I will then use it for a few weeks and then purchase a third. I plan to have three or four of her videos so I can keep rotating them around in order to keep my muscles confused.
Now for this weeks big weight loss, a big smashing 4 ozs. woo, hoo! as my 5 year old nephew would say.
Beginning weight: 204.6 lbs.
Last weeks weight: 195.2 lbs.
New weight: 194.8 lbs.
Lost 4ozs. this week.
Total weight loss: 9.8 lbs.
I wanted to lose at least one pound per week, but it just didn't happen this week. That's ok I am just taking this journey slow and steady.

Week 3 Weight Loss
Week 3 and my weight is still moving. That makes me happy beings last year when I started losing weight I got on a weight plateau and it would not move. That discouraged me and I gave up after about 6 weeks.
So here is my new update:
Beginning Weight: 204.6 lbs.
Previous weight: 197.8
New weight: 195.2
Lost 2.6 lbs. this week
A total weight loss of 9.4 lbs.
I'm thrilled! I am only looking for 1 lb. per week, but I sure like this over 2 lbs. per week. Exercising is paying off.
I am not really doing any strenuous exercising, just 40 minutes a day. I am doing it in 10 minute increments. I ride the exercise bike in the morning for 10 minutes. Later on in the morning or somewhere around lunch I walk in place for 10 minutes. Around 4:00 p.m. or so I walk in place again for 10 minutes. And before bed I ride the bike again for 10 minutes. I also do some arm workouts with 10 lb. hand held weights. about 10 to 15 per arm. Once I lay on my bed I do a few leg lifts. Not a big exercise program, but it is working so far, thank God.

Week 2 Weight Update
Hurray!!! I am shouting for joy!!! I went to Youth Camp this week, watched what I ate (at Youth Camp) and lost weight. I'm soooo excited!!! I can't believe I lost weight at Youth Camp with all the eating that was going on.
Anyway, you all get the picture, I am over joyed that I lost weight at Youth Camp. So Here's my weekly update:
Beginning Weight: 204.6
Previous Weight: 200.2
New Weight: 197.8
Lost 2.4 lbs this week
A total weight loss of 6.8 lbs.
I'm hoping for at least one pound per week. And hopefully I won't hit a weight plateau like I did the last time I was dieting.

Weight Watching Again
Well, I decided this week it was time for me to try to lose some weight. I don't know what it is about me losing weight, keeping it off for a while, and then slowly letting it return. So here I go again trying to lose weight.
I don't really follow a diet plan. I just count my calories and exercise, most of the time consisting of walking. I don't usually follow a diet plan because I like to be able to eat what ever I desire. I more or less am using the portion control thing. I suppose if I would use that method all the time instead of indulging in foods that taste soooo good I wouldn't have to lose weight often.
So once again, my beginning weight is 204.6 lbs. I have been cutting back this week and have lost down to 200.2 lbs.
A total loss of: 4.4 lbs
This was probably just water weight. Next week should be actually weight coming off. Anyone care to enbark on this weight loss journey with me?
Hope all of you are well. Have a super weekend!

Rambling About Our Week
Ok, it is a good thing I have a year to lose my 20 pounds because Valentine's Day is not helping my diet. There is just something about chocolate that just won't let me say no to it. I'll just have to forbid chocolate from being brought in this house until after I lose my 20 pounds.
I am so proud of the progress being made on our house. We had a leaky spot in our roof that we repaired this week. Little by little we are getting a new house. Did I say I'm excited?!!!!
My children are playing vetenarian this week. My nephew has a puppy that had to go to the Vet. He has to go to school in the day time & work in the evenings so guess who was chosen to be the puppy hospital this week. Yep, you guessed it, those home schoolers that are at home.
We did a study on the care of dogs about 2 years ago. They are putting their education in action now. Which we have puppies, but they are having to actually care for this puppy. He was a sick little fellow Sunday when we received him. He is doing super now.
This darling nephew of mine was so sweet to take my Mom to our Valentine banquet Saturday that the church had due to my Dad having to work. We were so proud of him. He showed up with a box of candy, flowers, & dressed in a tie. My Mom had a fine looking escourt. Our baby has grown in to a fine young man. He graduates this year. My, how time flies.
Hope all of you are having a wonderful week. Happy Home Schooling!

Starting Towards the Finish line of Losing 20 Pounds For the Year
Ok, I've procrastinated long enough. It is time to get back to business with my weight loss. Last year I lost 36 pounds altogether. I did not start logging it on my blog until I was down to 210 pounds. That would only show me losing 22 pounds. My actually beginning weight was 224 pounds. I am proud to say that I am down to 188 pounds & the exciting thing is that I have been keeping it off. I have not been doing any extreme dieting or exercise, but a couple of days out of the week I have been trying to watch what I eat.
After searching the web trying to get myself motivated again, I have run across a diet plan called, "Eat Stop Eat." I think I am going to give this diet a try for a few weeks to see how it works. This is how it is suppose to work. I can eat anything I want every day of the week except for 2 of them. Now when I say eat anything I want I don't mean I can go over board. We all know if we eat like that every day the pounds will pile up. I mean I can eat regular food without measuring portions, but being reasonable. The other two days during the week I would begin a fast & allow the fast to go on for 24 hours with only drink (water, tea , coffee, with out sugar). I would begin one evening after supper & fast until supper the next evening. This is how the diet works. I just choose two days out of the week to do this. I think I am going to give it a try.
As I have said in the past, I want to lose my weight slowly so that it will remain off. So I have set a very reasonable goal for this year. I only want to lose 20 pounds this year. Of course, if more comes off I won't mind, LOL. If i can lose 20 pounds this year & 20 pounds next year then I will be with in a few pounds of my goal weight.
Here's a link to an audio about the Eat Stop Eat plan.
So today I'm up & running towards the finish line of losing 20 pounds this year, starting today.
Beginning weight: 188 lbs.http://www.eatstopeat.com/intermittent-fasting-video.html I had read a few articles about it, but the audio is enough to give someone the idea as of how the plan works.

Getting Fit Goals: Week 8
I'm running a bit behind on my weekly report on my weight loss, sorry. I suppose it's ok though because not anything has changed. I seem to be on a weight loss plateau this week. I did not lose any weight, but I didn't gain either. I'be been searching on the internet and some sites say this is called a weight loss plateau. The sites give tips on how to trigger your metabolism to get it moving again. So, this week I am trying to get those pounds moving again.
I have kept up with my exercise for the most part. Idid my arm rolls, stretches, sit ups almost every night, walked 5 miles, and even added in jogging in place in 5 minute intervals.
My plans for this week is to walk more along with the other exercises to see if more walking will stimulate the metabolism this week. I read another thing to try on a site that I am going to try. I won't say what that is until I do more research on it because I'm just not sure of what the site said. Or, maybe I should mention it to you all to see if you have ever heard of such. The site said to spin around clockwise 12 times and it would shake up the harmone in your body and stimulate metabolism, never heard of it, but why not try it. The site said it would make you dizzy, that would be normal, but if you got dizzy and a bit nauseated then it could be a sign that you are having problems with your thyroid which definitely would cause problems with a person losing weight. The site said you should spin several times throughout the day. Any of you ever heard of this?
Beginning weight: 210 lbs.
Last week's weight: 190 lbs.
New weight: 190 lbs.
I'll update more at the end of the week and let you all know how I'm doing.

Getting Fit Goals: Weeks 6 & 7
I want to begin this post by giving God the glory for giving me the strength to control my appetite and not over eat while at youth camp. I induldged in quite a bit of snacks, like chocolate, chips, etc. but the Lord helped me to control myself and I maintained my weight. That's an accomplishment for me.
This morning I awoke and made my way to the scales and I weighed in at 190 lbs. I was over joyed with excitement. I managed to keep my weight loss right on track for the month of June, woo hoo!
I have done little exercise in the past two weeks. I've managed to get in some stretches, arm rolls, sit-ups here and there, and walking as I would do my daily walking to do what ever I needed to get up and do. I did not do my disciplined walks or exercises.
So here's my new up date:
Beginning weight: 210 lbs
2 week's ago weight: 193 lbs.
New Weight 190 lbs.
I've lost 20 lbs.
Hopefully, this week I can get back in to my walking and exercising. New up date next week.

Home From Youth Camp
Hello everyone, I have finally made it home from Youth Camp. We were suppose to have come home on Saturday, but just made it in yesterday evening. Our trip was prolonged.
In my last post I was the nurse taking care of the campers that appeared to have a virus. There was two of them. One of them recovered before the day was over. The other one was my son. To make a long story short, he is going to take a few weeks to recover. Our trip was prolonged due to an emergency surgery. My son had to have an Appendectomy on Friday. So we had to remain there to give him a couple of days to be ready to make a 5 hour ride back. We are home now and God is healing him marvelously.
I will be posting my weekly wrap up later today, Lord's willing.

Getting Fit Goals for the Month of June 2011
Ok, so I didn't make it getting my Getting Fit Goals put on my blog on Sunday. It's a good thing I had said, "Lord's willing, or I would have lied." It's been a busy week trying to get our things together to leave for youth camp in the morning. So here's a brief look at my goals for the month of June.
I do not want to lose my weight too fast. I want to lose it slowly in hopes that it will remain off. So my goals are one to two pounds each week.
I'm starting the month of June weighing 193 pounds.
June 3, 2011 192 lbs.
June 10, 2011 190 lbs.
June 17, 2011 188 lbs.
June 24, 2011 186 lbs.
By the last Friday in June I hope to be lost down to 186 pounds. I know I said one to two pounds per week and I've put two pounds on my goals, that's because this past month I lost at least two pounds each week and I'm hoping to do the same this month.
I only put one pound for this week due to us going to youth camp. My scales may rocket this week. Anyway, if they do, I'll will continue on when we get back. I am not going to stop just because of a set-back. I intend to lose this weight by the help of the Lord.
If I don't get to blog any after tonight, I'll talk to you guys when we return.

Getting Fit Goals: Week 5
This week was much better on my walking. I was able to walk every day this week. Actually, I made sure I could fit walking in my schedule every day this week due to me not knowing how much I will get to walk next week while we are at youth camp.
Between Home Economics and Library Read Aloud time this week, it's wonder the scales didn't shoot back up to my original weight. Thank goodness though, it didn't.

Here's my weekly report:
Walked: 17 miles
Sit-ups: 21 each night
Other: arm rolls, stretches, leg lifts
Beginning weight: 210 lbs.
Last week's weight: 195 lbs.
New weight: 193 lbs
As I stated last week, I met my monthly goal. I lost down to 196 lbs. I went over my goal 3 pounds, yea! That's great! These extra pounds can help me out during youth camp. I just have to discipline myself so that I don't gain them back during youth camp Oh, how hard this might be beings we have chocolate lined up to take on the trip with the youth, mmm.
Most of my walking this week was on the threadmill. My DS captured me while I was on there. Here's the pic.
I'll be posting my goals for the month of June probably Sunday, Lord's willing.
My weight loss may be a long drawn out program, but I intend to make it to my goal by the help of God.
I lost 17 lbs. in 5 weeks

Getting Fit Goals: Week 4
As I had stated in my last post, last week was extremely busy for us so my exercising (walking) was put on hold a bit. I did manage to walk 2 days in the midst of the chaos. I got in seven miles. My motive is, "Some is better than none." I did my nightly exercises with the leg lifts arm rolls, stretches, and sit-ups.
So here's my update on my fitness:
Walked: 7 miles
Sit-ups: 18 each night
Other exercises: stretches, arm rolls, & leg lifts
Beginning weight: 210
Last week's weight: 198
New weight: 195
Hip, hip, hurray!!! I met my monthly goal. I lost down to 196 lbs. and still have this week to go, yea!
Here are a few pic's of all the fun we've been having on our walks. I think Prissie, our dog, is having the most fun.
More updates later

Wrapping Up Our Week
Here's a quick wrap up of our week. We did a couple of math lessons, read Romeo & Juliet in Beautiful Stories From Shakespeare, Started reading a new read aloud, walked for our getting fit, and read and watched some videos on tornado weather.
We watched a version of Romeo & Juliet on TV Monday night. It was highly different, more of a 20th century version. It had some comedy in it, but not exactly what I call Shakespeare.
Our new read aloud is Tiger ,Tiger by Lynne Reid Banks (Author of Indian in the Cupboard). It is about Julius Caesar and the life style of Romans during the Gladiator period. Tiger, Tiger is giving us a great view of tragedies and triumphs in Ancient Rome. We have it on audio. The reader does a great job reading it so she is keeping my children's attention. My children were captured in the first chapter when Julius Caesar bought his daughter a tiger for a pet. The author went in to lots of detail when describing the events that took place at the Colosseum. There's no doubt of the cruelty that took place.
As for our walking this week and trying to get fit, I am extremely proud of my family. We walked 18 miles this week. We would do our 2 mile walk in the morning and decided it would do us good to do it in the evening also. So we walked in the evenings too. It's taking us about 1 1/2 hours to walk 4 miles a day. Hopefully, our timing will get better. Oh, and our dog, Prissie, is enjoying the walking also. Walking has been an enjoyable event this week with our entire family. Dad has walked with us. That was worth the walking to me.
I suppose this about summarizes our week. So we'll up date more later. Blessings

Health - Physical Fitness
With all the modernized things that we have accumulated in our home, we've neglected exercise. This week we've been trying to do something about that. Thanks to Jamie over at http://seejamieblog.com/2011/04/getting-fit-wanna-join-me/ we've gotten out and gotten moving. Each day we've tried to walk two to three miles. Our goal is to do this at least three times a week. Should we manage to walk more than three days, that will be great. I think I am going to integrate some Health in with our walking plan. I have Considering God's Creation on my shelf. I can pull out some of the detective sheets that focus on the Circulatory system, etc. I also have this cute little set I found at one of our local stores on the human body.
I really didn't want to get into another unit study before the end of our school year, but I feel like we need to have more of an understanding why it is good for us to be walking. We know it is good for us. But, why is it good for us?
The human body kit that we found is from Discovery Kids. It came with a neat little model of the human body and its organs and two books that are very informational to be as small as they are.
My hubby says they have some great pictures in them. I'll just throw in some vocabulary and a few internet links and we'll call it a unit study.
Anyone with any cute quick ideas that will stress this portion of Health, we're open for them. We have three weeks of school left for this term.
Hope all of you are having a happy homeschooling this week.
